Finally some respite for Indian Gamers

For all these years the import of console games was equipped with heavy charging of import duty, which made it costlier for the Indian Gamers to buy console games, as we saw prices for Xbox 360 and PS3 dropping in last few years, it made sense to reduce the excise on gaming software imported in the country since this was acting as a major deterrent in promoting console gaming in the country, and also encouraging piracy.

The Announcement made by the finance minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee in the Union Budget that customs duty on gaming software would be rationalised and also the import duty on the CD’s also has dropped, so it remains to be seen how much of this cuts reflect on the final pricing of the games.
